About
Hi, I’m Chris.
I build cutting boards, butcher blocks and the board butter that keeps them going — one at a time, in Marshfield, Wisconsin. I started Chris Meyer Designs in 2020.
Along with the boards, I make guillotine-style cheese slicer boards for the table and turkey fan mounts for the hunters in the family.
Marshfield is home. I served ten years as its mayor, and I bring the same approach to the shop: do the work carefully, be straight with people, and stand behind what you make.
Home is shared with my wife, Jodi, our dogs Buxton and Ollie, and — whenever they’re back for a visit — our four grown kids.
Built to be handed down
Every board is edge grain or end grain hardwood, sanded to 220 grit, finished with pure tung oil and sealed with board butter I make myself from three natural ingredients. They’re meant to be used hard every day — and to still be around for the next generation.
The mark
Old Marshfield-branded cans and goods still turn up in thrift shops a hundred years after they were made. Our mark — the outline of Wisconsin with a heart where Marshfield sits — is meant to do the same thing: tell someone, a century from now, where their board came from.

A different size, a favorite wood combination, a set for a gift — tell me what you’re picturing. I’ll price it based on the size and woods you choose.
